ETTIN
Introduction
ETTIN is an initiative of several road operators in Europe that have the ambition to enable the provision of traffic information services via a single short telephone number all over Europe.
ETTIN stands for European Traffic and Traveller Information Number.
In 2006 a quick scan was carried out to investigate the needs and the possibilities for ETTIN. The Quick Scan showed clearly the need for such a common telephone number and a harmonized access to information.
Six organizations , that are willing to actively participate to make ETTIN a reality, formed the ETTIN Steering Group . This Steering Group is now the formal owner of the initiative and steering the further developments.
In February 2008 the ETTIN Steering Group decided to start the ETTIN Initiation project (the project) with the aim to develop a demonstrator and to promote the ETTIN concept to strengthen the possibilities for such a European service.
This website shows the progress of the ETTIN initiation project during 2008 and 2009.
